Nos conseils pour décorer la (future) chambre de bébé

Between the hospital bag, the painstaking choice of pram, and the newborn wardrobe, you'll also find near the top of the list: setting up the baby's room! Here are our best tips for equipping, decorating, furnishing, and putting together the most beautiful cocoon for your future newborn.

1 - A quality sleeping space

This is probably THE first purchase you make for your future child, and for good reason: babies sleep a lot! Up to 20 hours a day as a newborn… So, whether you've fallen for a KUKO moses basket that can be taken everywhere or a KODO co-sleeping crib in other rooms of the house, the bed remains the centrepiece of the baby's room. At Charlie, we offer the very classic KUMI wooden crib, wonderfully soothing, or our latest LUGO convertible baby cot. This wooden cot accompanies baby from birth all the way to… 7 years old! Thanks to its oval shape reminiscent of an egg and its delicately slanted slats, it is incredibly comforting for baby's first months of life. At 2 years old, it transforms into a junior bed before becoming a big kid's bed for children aged 4 to 7. Ideally, LUGO can even be kept as a bench seat in any interior, making it a piece you can keep for life! For us, it's a heartfelt choice — safe, sustainable, timeless, and always as stylish as ever to dress a room with elegance.

2 - Quality paint with blime

Choosing colours for a child's room… it's quite an art!

That is why we partnered with blime, the premium, made-in-France paint brand, because we share the same values: a responsible approach, considered production, artisanal know-how, respect for raw materials, and a commitment to impeccable quality. Indeed, blime offers ranges of 100% water-based paint with very low VOC formulas that preserve indoor air quality. Moreover, every order is tinted to order only!

Here are some ideas for combinations between our furniture and a few blime colours:

- for a clean and gentle atmosphere: the Honey Moon, Pottery Mood or Goudes Enough shades that pair perfectly with the LUGO convertible cot or the KUKO moses basket

- for a room that stimulates development and curiosity: Colonel Mustard, On Mute, Okinawa Fog, which pair beautifully with the KIMI lichen bed and the KUKO farrow moses basket.

- for a cosy space between stimulation and rest: Spaghetti Western or Road Trip are two shades that work beautifully with the KIMI bed in rosewood.

Note that there are a thousand and one combinations and the only limit is your imagination!

3 - A suitable changing area

The changing table is also an essential element of the baby's room. Undressing, changing nappies, giving a massage… It has a thousand uses and must be practical, safe, and suited to the room. For this, we offer the PAGO changing table with its two gently curved storage trays. Classic, practical, durable, and stylish: it fits into any interior. When baby no longer needs a changing table, PAGO transforms into a small children's desk! Magic.

Finally, a second option: the NOGA wall-mounted changing table. It's one of our signature pieces. This table saves space thanks to its surface that folds flat against the wall. It is comfortable, safe, and adjustable to the height of your choice. The other bonus? Its storage for keeping all products, toys, and nappies within arm's reach!

Please note that the changing table does not necessarily have to be in the baby's room — it can also find its place in a bathroom.

4 - Baby room must-haves:

- storage: whether for toys, clothes, nappies, care products… Think about incorporating small storage solutions or other chests, baskets, and bins, so you're not quickly overwhelmed! Of course your little one is tiny, but they already come with a lot of kit!

- decoration (in small touches): keep it simple! Baby will grow quickly and the room is bound to evolve over time. We therefore advise against a radical or overly busy décor. Instead, opt for small touches of lovely objects to your taste, without overcrowding the room.

- a night light: essential! A soft little night light for night-time wake-ups, the evening routine, short nights, or simply a quiet moment.

- a play mat: Baby will gradually discover the world during their first year of life, so start thinking now about finding a spot for a play mat in their room so they can be comfortable (and you too) by their side.

Psst, at Charlie we designed the TAMI play mat and its design adapts to your interior thanks to 7 different colours! Match it with the NAHO wooden toy arch.

- frames and posters: a must, as a beautifully framed print instantly adds tone and style. It's an element that can be both stimulating for baby and comforting as they grow, having been chosen with care by their parents…

- an armchair or a relaxation spot: if you can, choose a comfortable seat or set up a cosy little corner! Ideal for settling in when you're watching over baby, breastfeeding, or giving a bottle in a calm and soothing atmosphere.

- safety: you need to quickly think about protecting electrical sockets and furniture your little one could bump into, even when they're very small!

To conclude, enjoy the process! It's a magical moment — shape it in your own image, imagine you are preparing your nest to welcome your little one into a space that reflects who you are… That's what matters most.
